FARNBOROUGH, England--14 July 2008-- Saudi Arabian Airlines today announced that it has again selected the CFM56-5B engine to power 22 new Airbus A320 family aircraft. The order is valued at approximately $300 million at list price. This is in addition to previously selecting 20 leased Airbus A320s, also powered by CFM56-5B engines The airline will begin taking delivery of new aircraft in 2009.
FARNBOROUGH, England--14 July 2008-- China Southern Airlines today announced that it has selected CFM56-5B engines to power a new fleet of 20 Airbus A320 family aircraft, and back the engine purchase with a long-term material services agreement.
CFM56-5B engines are a product of CFM International, a 50/50 joint company between Snecma (SAFRAN Group) and General Electric Company.

Initiative Targets Improved Fuel Efficiency Up to 16 Percent
FARNBOROUGH, England--13 July 2008-- GE Aviation has launched a new engine core program, called "eCore," as the technology cornerstone for a new generation of jet engines for narrow-body, regional, and business jets.
The program is designed to outpace competitive engine designs by offering aircraft operators up to 16 percent better fuel efficiency over GE's best engines in operation today.
