Fracking is a thirsty business.

A typical hydraulic fracturing well requires two to four million gallons of fresh water. Multiply that times hundreds of thousands of wells developed in the U.S. and Canada over the last decade and you get the idea -- the shale revolution has an unquenchable water habit.

Although water use for hydraulic fracturing is a relatively small proportion of a state's overall water use, at the local county or municipal level it is typically very high, often exceeding the water use of all residents in a region.

BETHESDA, MD -- FEB. 26, 2014 --- GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services, announced today that it has recently provided a $2.5 million senior secured credit facility to SynGen, Inc., a medical device company with a 510(k) approved bench-top system for isolating stem cells from umbilical cord blood, peripheral blood and bone marrow. GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services is acting as administrative agent for the credit facility.

related to 2008 sale of Japanese consumer loan business

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- February 26, 2014 -- GE announced today an agreement with Shinsei Bank to end GE's obligation to reimburse Shinsei Bank for refunds of interest paid in excess of the statutory interest rate by customers of the Japanese consumer finance business that General Electric Capital Corporation (GECC) sold to Shinsei in 2008.
