FLORENCE, ITALY (September 22, 2004) --- GE Energy's oil and gas division is extending through October 2006 its partnership with one of Germany's leading research centers to develop new technology used in pipeline inspection tools.
GE Energy's work with Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, which began in 1985, will focus on developing smaller, more powerful electronic components used on pipeline inspection gauges, known as pigs, which are sent through pipelines in search of various defects that could lead to costly leaks or ruptures.

HOUSTON, TEXAS (September 21, 2004) --- A power recovery system that GE Energy is supplying for Valero Energy Corp.'s (NYSE:VLO) refinery in Paulsboro, New Jersey will have the capacity to generate 18 megawatts of electricity to help support operations, GE reported today at the 33rd Turbomachinery Symposium.
Through its oil and gas business, GE received a multi-million dollar contract to supply the equipment, which will be shipped in the fourth quarter of 2005 and installed during the second quarter of 2006, when it will begin operation.
