New Delhi, June 13, 2005 - GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS), a unit of GE Commercial Finance, today announced the opening of a new office in New Delhi to better serve airline customers in India. GECAS is a leading provider of fleet, financing and productivity solutions to the global aviation industry.
"The aviation industry in India is poised for tremendous growth and we've set up a local office there to be closer to our customers," said Norman Liu, Executive Vice President, commercial operations for GECAS.
June 13, 2005 -- Paris, France - AirAsia, the leading low fare no frills airline in Southeast Asia, has finally unveiled its engine choice for its 100-aircraft Airbus A320 order (60 firm, 40 purchase rights). The airline has selected CFM International's CFM56-5B engine to power the A320s scheduled to begin joining the AirAsia fleet as early as December 2005. The purchase agreement for the firm engine order, which covers a total of 120 engines plus 9 spares, is valued at approximately USD $750 million at list price.

June 13, 2005 -- LE BOURGET - Less than a year after the GE Rolls-Royce Fighter Engine Team tested its F136 engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), the team has achieved several milestones - including completion of all pre-System Development & Demonstration (SDD) testing ahead of schedule and under budget. Successful completion of pre-SDD testing clears the way for the award of a SDD contract, which is expected in August.
