GE And CFM Win $25 Billion In New Deals At Farnborough Airshow

The Farnborough International Airshow will stay open to the public over the weekend, but the business part is over. GE and CFM International, GE’s joint company with France’s Safran Aircraft Engines, reported a combined total of $25 billion in new business.
CFM entered the show with orders and commitments for more than 10,800 next-generation LEAP jet engines, valued at $151 billion (U.S. list price), and the company won deals for at least 393 more. The company sold 565 engines valued at $8.2 billion. The tally includes its CFM56 engines and also business from undisclosed customers.

Next-Gen Airbus Jet Cleared For Takeoff By European And US Regulators

Airbus opened a new chapter in passenger travel this morning when European and American regulators issued a key certification to its next-generation Airbus A320neo plane powered by a pair of advanced LEAP-1A jet engines.
The ruling, called type certification, from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) essentially clears the runway for the delivery of the first A320neo equipped with the LEAP engine to an airline customer in the middle of 2016.

Airbus Gets 1st Production Jet Engines With 3D-Printed Parts From CFM

The European aircraft maker Airbus received the first two production models of the LEAP-1A engine for the next-generation Airbus A320neo passenger jet on April 2. The delivery is a milestone both for Airbus and CFM International, the 50/50 joint venture between GE Aviation and France’s Snecma (Safran) that developed them.

GE received orders valued at $5.4 billion, including orders for its new GE9X engine, which is currently in development. Testing on the engine is scheduled to begin next year.
