Create. Collaborate. Innovate!

Drones, 3D Printers, Walking Robots, and PinHole Cameras showcased and built on an exhibition floor that would make Tony Stark proud.

The Garage, as Jakarta is slowly discovering, is not just an exhibition, rather a coming together of innovators, engineers, students, tech enthusiasts and industry experts with one unifying aim – innovation by collaboration; this is the Future of Work.

GE’s Garage in Indonesia has seen almost 1,500 attendees sign up to vie for limited slots in select workshops shops led by innovators, makers and educators brought by GE and local innovation hub and community, MakeDoNia.

Let’s give them something to talk about!

The first half of the week-long Garage also played host to two panel discussions. The Future of Work panel saw Anies Baswedan, Minister of Culture and Primary and Secondary Education and Heather Wang, Vice President of HR, GE Global Growth Organisation, speak about the impact of social-economic climates, its impact of talent development and the importance of the role played by the private and public sectors to harness the growth of the workforce.
The second forum looked at the Internet of Things, and saw discussions by startup founders revolving around the importance of user experience, and consumer journey when designing their various solutions and program. The panel included Mark Kaplan, Founder of Tone, Larissa Rena from Somia CX and Faizal Rahman, Co-founder & UX designer at Flipbox who each shared their experiences and challenges in prioritizing the customer experience in their programs. The one commonality that flowed through the hour-long discourse was the importance of ‘never giving up’ when faced with thefirst, second or even 121st failure. Rome after all was not built in a day.

The second day at the Garage also featured an appearance by Terri Bresenham, President & CEO, GE, Sustainable Healthcare Solutions who spoke about healthcare challenges that developing countries are facing, and what GE is doing to lead the charge in sustainable health solutions.
We’re not done yet!
