Chan Chin Bock, then chairman of Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB) was tasked to venture to the United States with the aim of encouraging multinational giants to invest in Singapore. And boy did he deliver! Mr Chan’s first successes came in the form of one of the biggest companies in the world – General Electric, and the rest, as they say, is history.
