New Delhi /Bangalore, February 19th, 2009: Mr. V. Raja, President and CEO, GE Healthcare South Asia & Managing Director, Wipro GE Healthcare has been appointed as the Chairman of the Medical Electronics Forum of the FICCI.
In his role as Chairman of the FICCI's Medical Electronics Forum, Mr. Raja will work with FICCI, to promote the Medical Electronics Industry and address issues regarding technology development and manufacturing for this sector. He will be working closely with various stakeholders including the Government, specialists and doctors, decision makers, ambassadors, High Commissioners & experts from foreign missions in India, experts from UN Organisations, regulatory and other ancillary bodies.
On the occasion of being appointed Chairman, Mr. V. Raja commented, "This is an honour as much as a responsibility. With the intervention of our office bearers and core group members, we will certainly utilise each given opportunity to leverage this forum to become a driving force behind this sunrise sector which is estimated to grow to about $5 billion by 2012."
In career spanning over two decades, Mr. Raja has worked across diverse industries in India including automotive tyres, leather, food & beverages and batteries. In GEHC he was instrumental in building a growth oriented business on the foundation of strong Controllership Culture and Financially sound organization that helped the business turnaround to profitability with strong cash flows and predictability.
In GEHC he was instrumental in laying the foundation of a strong controllership and compliance culture and orchestrated the turnaround of the business to strong profitable growth and predictable cash flows, more than doubling revenues and profitability over the last 5 years.
Dr Amit Mitra, Secretary General, FICCI said, "The creation of the Medical Electronics Forum under patronage of FICCI was to bring together all stakeholders. This initiative will address the concerns of the $1.5-billion domestic medical electronics industry and create awareness about the opportunities in this area."
Mr Raja has assumed charge on 6th February, 2009. The FICCI Medical Electronics Forum (FICCI-MEF) will be in session during February 19th to 20th 2009.
