FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 2005--General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) today announced the appointment of Lloyd G. Trotter as a GE executive vice president focusing on operations and James P. Campbell as president and CEO of GE Consumer & Industrial, succeeding Trotter.
In his new role, Trotter, 60, will report directly to GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt. He will lead efforts to lower structural cost and improve operational excellence across GE's businesses and will work with other GE leaders to achieve world-class performance in GE's supply chain. Trotter also will oversee the talent pipeline in operations including the development of leaders and plant managers.

Trotter is a 35-year GE veteran who has led two GE businesses. He began at GE as a field service engineer with GE Lighting. He subsequently held production and technology roles of increasing responsibility in GE Lighting, Gas Turbines, Appliances and Electrical Distribution & Control (ED&C) businesses. He was elected Vice President and General Manager of ED&C in 1990 and President and CEO in 1992. In 1998, he was named a GE Senior Vice President and the President and CEO of Industrial Systems.
Trotter graduated in 1972 from Cleveland State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and later was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in that subject.
Campbell, 48, will succeed Trotter at GE Consumer & Industrial, a $14 billion global business that employs 62,000 people around the world. He will report to GE Vice Chairman John Rice. Previously, Campbell was President & CEO for GE Consumer & Industrial, Americas.

Campbell, 48, started in 1981 at GE Appliances where he held different field positions in sales and merchandising. In 1992, Campbell became Manager-Microwave Cooking Products and Product Manager Built-In Cooking Products at GE Appliances. He later headed marketing, sales and product management organizations in Appliances before being appointed Vice President of Sales and Marketing and a GE Company Officer in 1999. In 2001, he was named President and CEO of GE Appliances. A year later, after the merger of GE Appliances with GE Lighting, he was named President and CEO of GE Consumer Products.
Campbell received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from St. John's University. He completed his MBA in Marketing Management at Hofstra University in 1981.
