Statement from GE Chairman and CEO Larry Culp on the Passing of Former Secretary of Defense Ashton B. Carter

October 25, 2022

BOSTON – October 25, 2022 - GE (NYSE:GE) Chairman and CEO H. Lawrence Culp, Jr., today issued the following statement in response to the passing of former Secretary of Defense and GE board member Ashton B. Carter:

“We are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of former Secretary of Defense Ash Carter. He was a great American, advising leaders in both political parties to strengthen our national security while mentoring countless students to ensure an equally bright future.

“One of the great privileges of this job has been the people I’ve met, and Ash Carter was at the top of that list. His leadership on the GE board was exemplary, and we will greatly miss both his sage counsel and good humor. Our thoughts are with the Carter family at this difficult time.”
