San Diego State University Selects GE Money to Provide Credit Card Product for Alumni

July 10, 2007

University's proceeds to support alumni association programs

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--San Diego State University, the largest in the California State University system, has selected GE Money, the consumer lending unit of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), to provide an affinity credit card product to the university's alumni.

"We are pleased to partner with San Diego State on a new affinity credit card program," said Scott Young, leader of GE Money's Personal Finance business. "The card has unique rewards tailored to the university community and we are proud to offer it to more than 150,000 alumni."

The agreement is part of GE Money's strategy to expand its card presence in the affinity credit card market.

Under terms of the program, which launched today, GE Money will provide a MasterCard product featuring the San Diego State University brand. Cardholders can choose from two designs -- an alumni card or an athletics card. Cardholders will earn one point for every $1 spent and points may be redeemed for SDSU merchandise, season tickets and luxury boxes at sporting events, travel and gift cards, and more. The card will be marketed to alumni through direct mail, ads placed on alumni and athletics websites, and at athletic events. GE Money will share revenue from the program with the SDSU alumni association. The alumni association will use the proceeds to support a range of alumni activities, including athletics, university relations and development initiatives.

"Thousands of Aztecs will be using these cards," said SDSU Alumni Association Executive Director Jim Herrick. "With every transaction they make with the card, they'll be saying to businesses all over the world, 'I'm proud to be an Aztec.'"

SDSU was founded in 1897 and is the largest member school of the California State University system.
