More Than 800 Industry Representatives Attend
FLORENCE, ITALY, February 8, 2005: -- "New Technology Frontiers" was the theme of the 2005 GE Energy Oil & Gas Annual Meeting, held recently in Florence and attended by more than 800 industry representatives from around the world.
Speakers at the event included John Rice, president and CEO of GE Energy, Claudi Santiago, president of GE Energy's oil and gas group, and Scott Donnelly, senior vice president of GE Global Research; along with executives from some of the world's leading oil and gas companies including Statoil, PlusPetrol, Atlantic LNG, ConocoPhillips, PDVSA Gas, Williams Gas Pipeline and Marathon Oil.
"The theme of our meeting underscored the role of technology in providing solutions to some of the greatest current challenges of the oil and gas industry," said Santiago. "Those challenges include production from non-traditional resources, drastically increased unit train size to leverage economies of scale, and operation with respect for the environment."
Technology topics covered during presentations at the meeting included enhancing LNG production, advanced technology in re-injection projects, new pipeline integrity solutions, and gas-to-liquid (GTL) technology requirements.
GE Energy used the meeting to focus on its commitment to use the vast technology synergies found within GE to provide advanced solutions across the oil and gas industry, from production through processing. One of the areas highlighted was low- emission gas turbine technology to protect the environment while maintaining equipment productivity.
