Nancy P. Dorn Named Head of GE Government Relations

FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 2003--Nancy P. Dorn, a former senior adviser to President Bush, Vice President Cheney and House Speaker Dennis Hastert, has been named Vice President, Corporate Government Relations for the General Electric Company, GE General Counsel Benjamin W. Heineman announced today.
Dorn, 44, will head GE's federal and state government relations staff and will have a central role in shaping GE's international government relations priorities and strategies. Her appointment is effective May 1, 2003.
Most recently, Dorn was the deputy director of the federal Office of Management and Budget. In 2001 and part of 2002, she was Vice President Cheney's assistant for legislative affairs. Immediately prior to her service in the current administration, Dorn served as a senior policy adviser to Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.
In the 1980s, Dorn served as Assistant Secretary of the Army, Special Assistant to Presidents Reagan and Bush and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.
"Nancy is a superbly qualified and highly respected professional with extensive experience in the executive and legislative branches of government," Heineman said. "Her international as well as domestic policy experience will be great assets to a global company like GE."
Dorn also ran her own consulting firm and was a partner with the Washington, D.C. firm of Hooper, Owen & Winburn. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and journalism from Baylor University.
She succeeds Susan Walter, who retired.
