--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GE Appliances & Lighting:
Who: | Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates and GE Lighting.
What: | Earnhardt Ganassi Racing is helping lead the way in NASCAR to increased energy conservation with upgraded highly efficient lighting at its 185,000 square-foot race shop and corporate headquarters facility in Concord, N.C. Executives of both companies will provide guided tours of the race shop on Oct. 4. They'll explain the value of the new lighting systems, which are part of the organization's efforts to become more environmentally conscious.
The update of the Concord race shop and offices, completed in August 2010, is projected to cut lighting energy costs by $50,000 annually with efficient high-output T5 linear fluorescent lighting systems that are powerful enough to be used in high-bay commercial settings such as warehouses, industrial plants or garages.
For Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, the shift is expected to decrease the facility's energy costs by 35 percent each year with a payback period of only two years. The change also improved the quality of light, making the race shop a more comfortable place to work.
Executives present on Oct. 4 will talk about a range of retrofit benefits, including energy, maintenance and cost savings, enhanced quality of light and environmental stewardship. The tour will also showcase commercial lighting best practices that businesses of any size or type could implement.
