HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM (September 23, 2003) --- GE Hydro has been selected by Sichuan Huanglong Electric Power Co. Ltd. to supply equipment and services for a new, 180-megawatt hydroelectric plant in Sichuan Province, People's Republic of China, GE announced today at Power-Gen Asia 2003.
Under a contract of more than US$5.4 million, GE Hydro will provide three high-head Francis hydro turbine-generators, spare parts and supervisory services for installation. The plant will be located on a branch of the Mingjiang River at Jiaochangxiang, Mao Country, Sichuan Province in southwestern China.
The equipment will be manufactured at GE Hydro Asia's facilities in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. The first turbine-generator will be shipped to the project site before August 31, 2004 and will begin commercial operation before December 31, 2004. The last unit will be shipped to the project site before September 30, 2004 and will begin commercial operation before April 30, 2005.
"This project is being accomplished within a short time cycle to help China meet its rapidly increasing demand for power," said Li Shu-Ping, China sales leader for GE Hydro.
