DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY (May 6, 2003) --- GE Oil & Gas's Thermodyn unit has been awarded contracts by Gaz de France totaling Euro 23 million to supply three compression units of 12 megawatts each for the Roussines gas transport station near Argenton-sur-Creuse in the center of France, and three units of eight megawatts each for the Laneuvelotte station near Nancy, France.
All six centrifugal compressors will be driven by Alstom variable-speed electrical motors and will be manufactured at Thermodyn's plant in Le Cruesot. Commissioning of the new units is planned for November 2004 at the Roussines station and February 2005 at the Laneuvelotte station.
The three compression units for Roussines are designed to strengthen the Guyenne Artery, which carries gas between the north and south of France. The units at Laneuvelotte will strengthen the north-east artery and the interconnection among France, Switzerland and Italy.
Thermodyn, headquartered in Paris with manufacturing facilities in Le Creusot, is the GE Oil & Gas Center of Excellence in France for the design, production and service of low to medium pressure centrifugal compressors and low to medium power steam turbines. GE Oil & Gas is headquartered in Florence, Italy, the home of Nuovo Pignone, a long-time global leader in gas compression and turbo generation products.
