GE's Ralph Exton to Serve as Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for the Water Environment Federation

September 29, 2014

NEW ORLEANS-September 29, 2014-GE (NYSE: GE) today announced the appointment of Ralph Exton to serve as 2014-2015 treasurer on the board of trustees for the Water Environment Federation (WEF), an international organization of water quality professionals headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia. He was first elected to WEF’s board of trustees in 2012.

Exton has extensive experience in various leadership, business and international roles and has more than 27 years of advanced water treatment, water purification and reuse experience. Exton’s position as treasurer took effect on September 26.

In his current role as the chief marketing officer-water and process technologies for GE Power & Water, Exton provides strategic leadership and program direction for the business’ marketing activities and sustainability efforts.

Exton is an ambassador for ecomagination*, GE’s commitment to imagine and build innovative solutions for today’s environmental challenges while driving economic growth. He also is the leader of the Water for Humanity* program for GE, which is a philanthropic initiative that helps provide safe drinking water to communities in need.

Furthering his business and leadership experience, Exton is the business program manager for the GE Experienced Commercial Leadership Program designed to attract, retain and grow a diverse and global population of future sales and marketing leaders for GE businesses.

“I am honored to have been elected to serve on the WEF board as treasurer and to be part of this group of distinguished water industry professionals,” said Exton. “I look forward to continuing to work with the other WEF board members and staff to address ongoing global water challenges.”

In 1994, Exton joined BetzDearborn (acquired by GE in 2002) and has held a number of roles in GE’s water business with increasing responsibility for commercial operations, business development, marketing and sales management. Prior to assuming his current role in February 2012, he served for three years as the global sales leader for channel partner development for engineered systems.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the International Desalination Association, Water Reuse Association and Pennsylvania Water Environment Association and is co-chair for the AIChE International Society for Water Solutions.

The WEF board of trustees is the governing body of WEF and holds legal and fiduciary responsibility on behalf of WEF and its membership. It sets strategic direction and provides leadership and oversight. Board members are nominated by the WEF nomination committee and elected by the House of Delegates, the deliberative and representational body of WEF.
