GE's Rail Services Unit Appoints New President and CEO

October 17, 2006

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GE today announced that Jay Wileman has been named president and CEO of GE Equipment Services, Rail Services. Mr. Wileman will be responsible for the growth of the business through the development of new service offerings and global expansion while managing and growing its railcar and intermodal fleets.

He succeeds Ted Torbeck, who has moved to GE's Corporate unit to lead cost and growth initiatives.

Rail Services' strategy is expanding beyond leasing and financing to include services offerings such as VeriWiseTM RAIL in telematics and Maintenance MAXTM managed maintenance solutions for its rail and intermodal customers. Mr. Wileman has expertise in services and operations as well as global experience, having served most recently as general manager of Global Services for GE's Oil & Gas business in Florence, Italy.

"Equipment Services is evolving from a finance business into a services and solutions provider devoted to making its customers more productive," said Debbie Reif, Equipment Services president and CEO. "Ted's leadership and performance over the past three years has been outstanding, and he has left an excellent foundation by which Rail Services can achieve even greater success. Jay's focus on customers and his understanding of the value of services for customers will help him lead Rail Services through this transformation to becoming a world-class services and solutions provider."

"This is a tremendous opportunity," said Jay Wileman, president and CEO of GE Equipment Services, Rail Services. "I am looking forward to working with our customers and suppliers to grow services in the rail and intermodal industries and enhance our ability to create new synergies within the supply chain."

As services leader for Oil & Gas, Wileman led double-digit growth in customized service agreements and drove the development of conventional services into technology-based solutions for a worldwide customer base.

Wileman started his GE career in 1994 at the Company's Nuclear Energy division, where he held positions in engineering and manufacturing in the U.S. and Japan before leading the Global Nuclear Fuel joint venture integration for Nuclear Energy's business development team in 1999. He was promoted to manager of Nuclear's Technical Services business in 2000 and moved to his current position in Oil & Gas in late 2002. Wileman started his business career as a nuclear fuel engineer and commercial manager for Southern Company. He holds a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering from Mississippi State University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
