GE's Pipeline Solutions Group Launches New Version Of Pipeview Integrity Software

February 28, 2007

Software Tool Represents Major Advancement for Pipeline Integrity Management Solutions

HOUSTON, TEXAS - February 28, 2007 :- GE's PII Pipeline Solutions business has launched PVi 4.0, a major new version of PipeView Integrity, a suite of software solutions to help transmission pipeline operators and local distribution companies assess and manage the integrity of their pipelines.

PipeView Integrity combines several important integrity tools - including Data Alignment Manager, Feature Assessment, Risk Assessment, and Integrity Planning - into a single, integrated environment.

The new version of PipeView Integrity includes a new interface and workflow throughout, additional engineering assessment capabilities, a new data alignment application and enhanced ability to configure Band View, an interactive visualization tool that displays various pipeline data as bands along the pipeline.

"We focused on making PVi more accessible from the user's standpoint as well as adding specific tools that our customers were seeking," said Manuel Terranova, General Manager of PII Integrity Services. "This release represents a major advancement for pipeline integrity management solutions."

The users can select their area of interest using either a Google Map interface or a schematic view of their pipeline system. The new interface then provides workflows based on the specific tasks that a user is completing: loading and aligning data, performing engineering critical assessment of inspections, calculating risk to which the pipeline is subjected or generating integrity management plans.

With PVi 4.0, new engineering assessment capabilities were added, including probability of exceedance calculations to determine current and future conditions of the pipeline. Also included are variable growth rates for corrosion analysis and support for RUNCOMTM, an offering from PII that provided empirical growth rates based on the comparison of in-line inspection runs.

The new data alignment application in this release provides unprecedented ability to align new inspection data sets (including in-line inspections and above-ground survey data) as well as other data to a common reference system for subsequent analysis and visualization purposes. This application provides automatic and interactive ability to match features in new data sets to common features that have established locations in other data sets.

With this release of PipeView Integrity, users can define multiple bands and band layouts using the Band View tool in order to present data in ways that are meaningful to their situation. The user can construct line graphs, histograms, scatter plots, bar charts and more to display various data - inspection data, facility data, analysis results - simultaneously as stacked bands. With navigation capabilities, the user can focus in on any area and understand correlation of data sets for more informed decisions.

Also included in this release is enhanced reporting through Crystal Reports and distributed Risk Assessment architecture for scalability and performance to support large system implementations.

GE's PII Pipeline Solutions is a global leader in pipeline integrity management services for the oil and gas industry. The business provides total pipeline integrity solutions, including in-line inspection tools, consulting and special analysis services, to provide customers with higher productivity, greater safety and longer life for their pipeline operations.
