GE's Outdoor LED Lighting Offers Energy Efficiency in a Modern Style for Area and Street Lights

August 06, 2013

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio --- Aug. 6, 2013 --- (NYSE:GE) --- Offering modern style in area and street lighting, GE's new Evolve™ LED Decasphere area light provides an energy-efficient and high quality means for optimizing the illumination of roadways and walkways. Its advanced LED lighting technology delivers excellent horizontal and vertical uniformity, reduced glare and enhanced lighting control.

The GE Evolve LED Decasphere area light's unique reflective optic design effectively aims the light where you need it.

"The new Decasphere area light is the latest LED lighting fixture in GE's award-winning portfolio, providing efficiency, white light, and minimal glare," said Michael Armstrong, product general manager of global outdoor lighting. "It offers another aesthetic option in the Evolve family of commercial outdoor LED lighting fixtures. Its round, flat housing design incorporates the high-efficiency reflective optics. Additionally, with its modern design, it is an ideal solution for outdoor and area lighting for such locations as campuses and municipalities."

The LED Decasphere area light provides reduced energy consumption over traditional metal halide lighting. Furthermore, based on a 50,000-hour life and 12 hours of operation per day, it has more than 11 years of reliable service, which helps significantly reduce maintenance frequency and expenses.

The ecomagination℠ Evolve LED Decasphere area light joins GE's family of award-winning fixtures, including the Evolve™ LED Scalable Cobrahead Roadway Lighting Fixture, which earned the prestigious "Best-in-Class" award from the U.S. Department of Energy's annual Next Generation Luminaires Competition and won the 2013 LightFair International Innovation Award category for Parking, Roadway and Area Luminaires.
