GE's Hispanic Forum Recognizes National Hispanic Heritage Month

September 19, 2012

WASHINGTON--()--In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, GE (NYSE: GE) today released the following statement from the leaders of its corporate affinity network, the GE Hispanic Forum:

"Today we mark the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, a time when we celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

"Hispanics have always been an important part of our national culture and fabric. Their commitment to family, hard work and faith have enriched our national fiber and positively influenced our character. They are leaders, entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, artists, educators and include the brave service men and women who put their lives at risk to protect our freedoms at home and abroad. America is a more vibrant and prosperous country because of the contributions made by Hispanics across the country.

"At GE, we recognize the contributions of the Hispanic community, which is why GE's Hispanic Forum is committed to working with and supporting local Hispanic communities and individuals across the country. With over 3,500 Hispanic employees, GE is proud to be one of the leading employers of choice for the Hispanic community and a company dedicated to nurturing the Hispanic leaders of tomorrow.

"We want to thank our Hispanic employees for their hard work, service and dedication over the years. The role they play is significant, and has helped make GE the dynamic and successful global company it is today."

GE Hispanic Forum (GEHF) leaders include: Co-Chair Delia Garced, General Manager of Commercialization and Digital Marketing Strategies at GE Energy; Co-Chair Ruben Gonzalez, President and General Manager GE Puerto Rico; and Co-Chair Beto Casellas, Vice President and GM at GE Capital Retail Finance.

About the GE Hispanic Forum

The GE Hispanic Forum was established in 1996 as an employee-based affinity network created to attract, retain and develop Hispanic talent within GE. Last year, the Hispanic Forum officially launched the "GE Hispanic Forum Scholarship Fund," which presented its first $20,000 check to Thomas Alva Edison High School for two science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) scholarships. GE's Hispanic Forum was also rated a "best in class" affinity group model from the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's (USHCC) 2011 Latino Employee Resource Group Corporate Challenge.
