KUALA LUMPUR, 26 November 2013 -- General Electric (GE) organized a tree-planting event, in collaboration with the Selangor Forestry Department (JPNS) and Kota Damansara Community Forest Society (KDCF), as part of GE's efforts towards giving back to the environment.
The event was organized in recognition of the importance of conserving the environment and also to enhance the spirit of volunteerism among GE employees. A total of 40 GE employees and their families took part in the event, which was held at the Kota Damansara Forest Reserve.
GE Volunteers is a company-wide effort through which employees share their time, talent and skills to build stronger communities in the areas of education, environment and healthcare. The program promotes GE values, develops leaders and teams, and builds positive relationships between the Company and communities. Today, there are over 175 GE Volunteers councils located in more than 46 countries, each responsible for addressing serious social issues facing their communities.
