General Electric Names Three New Officers

FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 2003--General Electric has announced the appointment of three new company officers.
Steve Bolze, 40, has been named Vice President, Amersham Integration planning. Steve joined GE Medical Systems in 2002 as General Manager, Global Functional and Molecular Imaging. Previously, Steve held several roles within GE Power Systems including General Manager for Energy Management Services, President and CEO of GE Harris Energy Control Systems and Manager, Competitive Strategies and Market Research. Steve joined GE in 1993 as a Manager for GE Corporate Business Development in Fairfield, Connecticut. He began his career with Westinghouse on its Graduate Placement Program and later joined Corporate Decisions, Inc. as a management consultant to Fortune 500 companies. Steve graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.
GE announced in October that, subject to regulatory approval and other customary conditions, it will acquire all the outstanding shares of Amersham, a world leader in diagnostic imaging agents and life sciences.
John Eck, 44, has been named Vice President, NBC Universal Integration planning. In addition, John will continue to serve as NBC's president of broadcast and network operations, a position he's held since July 1998. An eleven-year veteran of NBC, he oversees NBC's production operations, commercial integration, engineering and advanced technology, facilities/real estate, and sourcing. Further, his organization is leading the company's digital news operation efforts. Since 1993, John has assumed various roles within NBC including senior vice president with oversight of NBC's six sigma initiative, CFO for NBC International and Business Development, and vice president of financial planning and analysis. Before joining NBC, he held various financial positions within GE Capital, GE Power Systems and GE Aircraft Engines.
He started his GE career at GE Lighting in the company's Financial Management Program. John graduated with a B.A. in business from Indiana University.
GE and Vivendi Universal announced in October that they have signed a definitive agreement for the merger of NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment (VUE). The new company, to be called NBC Universal, will be 80%-owned by GE, with 20% held by the shareholders of Vivendi Universal Entertainment.
Bill Fitzgerald, 42, was appointed Vice President and General Manager, Global Operations for GE Engines Services at GE Aircraft Engines. In his previous role he was General Manager, Global Supply Chain at GE Transportation Systems since February 2001. In 1998, Bill became part of the Engine Services operation at GE Aircraft Engines and in January 2000 assumed the position of Managing Director for the European Engines Services operation. He began his career at GE Aircraft Engines in 1983 as a member of the Manufacturing Development Program (MDP). Bill holds a Manufacturing Engineering degree from Boston University and is a graduate of GE's Advanced Manufacturing course. Additionally, he holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
