General Electric Names Four New Officers

December 18, 2003

FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 18, 2003--General Electric today announced the appointment of four new company officers.
Kenneth L. Boyda, 59, is president and chief executive officer of GE's security technology business, which is part of GE Infrastructure. Boyda joined GE in February 2002 with the acquisition of Interlogix, Inc., of which he was President, CEO and Director. Prior to that position he was President and CEO of SLC, a predecessor of Interlogix. Boyda also served in a variety of senior positions at Colortran, Inc. Boyda received a B.A. in Government from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Steve Gray, 48, is named vice president of global technology, GE Rail. For the past two years, Gray has led the GE Rail engineering teams and led the team that developed the GE Evolution Series locomotive. In 24 years with GE, Gray has held leadership positions in engineering and product management at GE Industrial Systems, GE Appliances and GE Medical Systems. Gray holds engineering degrees from the University of Michigan and Purdue University, and an M.B.A. from The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Rich Laxer, 42, has been named president of GE Corporate Financial Services (CFS) Europe, based in London. Currently he is president of GE Real Estate Asia-Pacific, based in Japan. Real Estate and CFS are units of GE Commercial Finance. Since joining GE in 1984, Laxer has held numerous leadership positions at GE Real Estate. Prior to his current role he was senior vice president for GE Real Estate's Fund Capital Group, which focuses on U.S. investment funds. Laxer, a graduate of GE's Financial Management Program, holds a B.S. in Business from Skidmore College.
Eileen Whelley, 49, is executive vice president of NBC Human Resources and is leading the HR integration planning for the acquisition of Vivendi Universal Entertainment. Prior to joining NBC in January 2002, Whelley was vice president of Human Resources Excellence for GE Capital in Stamford. Before coming to GE Capital, she served as vice president of Global Human Resources at Employers Reinsurance Company in Kansas City from 1997 to 1999. From 1993 to 1997, Whelley held various human resources assignments at GE's corporate headquarters in Fairfield, Conn. She is a graduate of Potsdam College and has a master's degree from Bowling Green State University.
