General Electric (GE), a global company powered by the spirit of innovation, has helped inspire technological breakthroughs across various industries in multiple markets. 'GE Innovation Day 2012' is an event which showcases the efforts of GE and its partners in 'co-creating' solutions that address challenges faced across the world and in Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 29 May 2012 -- General Electric (GE) hosted 'GE Innovation Day 2012' at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today, bringing together key customers, government partners and the media, to showcase GE's innovative solutions co-created with local industry partners. The event underlines GE's commitment to working in partnership with local firms to provide innovative solutions to address challenges faced in Malaysia across a myriad of industries.

"Innovation sits at the core of what we do at GE and we have found that collaboration both internally and with local partners is a key ingredient in spurring it, leading to the creation of impactful solutions. GE is constantly looking for opportunities to co-create with local firms and find innovative solutions to tackle the world's modern day challenges. In Malaysia we are committed to being a partner for growth, supporting the government's nation-building efforts," said Stuart Dean, Chief Executive Officer of GE ASEAN.

Innovative solutions across a variety of industries, including energy, aviation, healthcare, lighting, transportation were showcased as part of 'GE Innovation Day 2012', providing a platform for customers and partners to see firsthand what GE is doing to 'Move, Power, Build and Cure' across the globe and in Malaysia.

The event also provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of strategic collaboration to drive innovative, industry-leading and cross-business solutions through plenary panel discussions and workshops. The plenary discussion on 'Co-creating to Take on Malaysia's Toughest Challenges', saw Stuart Dean, CEO of GE ASEAN; Azran Osman Rani, CEO of AirAsia X and Mark Rozario, CEO of Agensi Inovasi Malaysia share their insights on the importance of strategic collaboration to drive innovative, industry-leading solutions in support of nation-building efforts.

On GE's partnership with AirAsia, Stuart Dean said, "GE has worked with AirAsia to develop a broad spectrum of solutions from powering AirAsia's fleet, to assisting on fuel cost savings initiatives, and helping AirAsia find ways to become a leader in advanced aviation technology applications. Our relationship with AirAsia is a great example of how we work collaboratively to help our customers increase productivity and optimize assets."

In addition to participating in the plenary discussions, guests were given the opportunity to take part in a unique, in- depth seminar conducted by GE Lighting on modern lighting designs tailored for the hospitality and retail industries; as well as a session on GE Tempo™, the Next Generation Rail Signaling Solution by GE Transportation.

"GE Innovation Day 2012" concluded with a forum on 'Workplace Innovations -- Cultivating Women Talent' organized by GE in collaboration with the Department of Women Development, Talent Corporation and other industry representatives including McKinsey & Company, and Standard Chartered. The objective of the workshop was to engage leaders from the private sector to discuss the issue of the return and retention of women talent in the workforce. Present at the forum were Harjeet Singh, Deputy Secretary-General (Policy), Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development; Johan Mahmood Merican, Chief Executive Officer of Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd. and Anushia Kandasamy, Senior Engagement Manager of McKinsey & Company.

GE will continue to look beyond the confines of its organization and associated industries to find avenues that will drive growth, working collaboratively with local partners to develop better and smarter solutions that address challenges faced across the world.
