7 December 2015 - GE today welcomed the Federal Government’s Innovation Statement and called on business to show leadership with investments in technology and talent.
Geoff Culbert, CEO & President of GE Australia, New Zealand and PNG said:
“The Government’s Innovation Statement hits the right issues - access to capital, the removal of red tape, measures to create, attract and retain talent as well as incentives to encourage collaboration and a culture of ideas. These initiatives will help to create an environment in which entrepreneurialism can flourish.
“Government can create the right ecosystem for innovation, but business must also lead with investment in technology, industries and talent. The initiatives announced by the Government today will encourage this.
“Our Innovation Barometer* research has revealed year on year that successful innovation comes from collaboration. Business, entrepreneurs, the education sector and research institutions must work together to develop and commercialise great Australian ideas.
“Australia is well positioned to lead on the application of Industrial Internet technologies to strengthen industries where we have natural depth and capability - oil, gas, mining, agriculture, healthcare, financial services. The use of technology to create even small breakthroughs in productivity in these areas can contribute significant wealth to the Australian economy, and presents a tremendous opportunity for innovation.”
