LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 11, 2006--There just aren't enough hours in the day for the average American. Terms like "time crunch," "time squeeze" and "juggling" have become familiar descriptions of our everyday lives. It's no surprise, considering the hours we work.
A 2005 Bureau of Labor Statistics study found that women work seven hours a day and men work eight on average and that one in five adults brings work home regularly. That leaves little time for household chores.
But when it comes to taking care of clothes, GE Consumer & Industrial has introduced two clothes care systems - the GE(R) front load laundry pair and the GE Profile Harmony(TM) Clothes Care System - that each provides a laundry list of benefits for time-crunched consumers.
Take a Load Off - Over 100 Loads That is
Both the Harmony and GE front load laundry pairs make room for family-sized loads. The GE Profile Harmony Clothes Care System can save consumers from washing up to 110 loads per year(1). Harmony is big enough to handle 24 towels. Its king-size 4.0-cubic-foot(2) stainless steel washer basket makes room for more items, which means fewer loads per week. The adaptive high spin speed (up to 1010 revolutions per minute) means better water extraction and less dry time.
Spend less time pondering how to get out that tough stain. The Harmony washer easily and effectively treats more than 80 stains(3), optimizing wash cycles based on stain type, fabric and garment color, taking the guesswork out of treating stains.
There's no need to program the dryer. The Harmony pair eliminates guesswork and saves time. Once the washer is programmed, the dryer option settings are communicated through a computer cable.
The fastest premium dryer you can buy, Harmony's dryer features the DuoDry(TM) system, which quickly and consistently dries all types of clothes. The system uses two motors - an industry first - to maintain proper airflow and control tumbling action to ensure fast, even drying.
No need to spend time at the laundromat with big loads like a king-size comforter. The new GE front load washer and dryer with its 3.7(4)-cubic-foot stainless wash basket and spacious 7.0-cubic-foot dryer drum easily handles these big loads, including 22 full-size bath towels. Large 15" door openings make loading the washer and dryer a breeze.
The Flow-Thru(TM) dispenser system releases the detergent, fabric softener, additives and bleach at just the right time. The timed dispensers are not only convenient, but provide optimum cleaning, as well. An easy-to-read LED display indicates remaining wash and dry cycle time, allowing for easier coordination of laundry tasks.
Additional time saving features of the GE front load laundry pair include speed wash and dry cycles for loads that are needed in a hurry, such as sports or school uniforms, and a fast washer spin speed of 1000 RPMs which means less drying time in the dryer.
Energy and Water Savings Add Up
Both ENERGY STAR(R)-qualified clothes care systems offer impressive energy and water savings. The new GE frontload washer uses as little as 10 gallons of water for a small load and 15 gallons for an average-size load, which saves up to 23 gallons per load, or 61% water(5). In fact, the GE frontload washer's total energy and water savings can pay for the initial cost of the washer over its life(6).
Harmony's ENERGY STAR washer matches water levels to load size, resulting in water and energy savings. The HydroWash system uses as little as 17 gallons of water for a small load and an average of 24 gallons for an average-sized load(7).
The estimated retail price range of the GE frontload washer is $899-$999 and the dryer is $649-$749. Offered in white, a new color option, granite gray, will be available in December.
Available in dark platinum or white, the estimated retail price range of the GE Profile Harmony laundry pair (washer model WPGT9360E and dryer model DPGT750EC or DPGT750GC) is $1948-$2098.
