GE's India designed new Brivo XR115 Ultra* High Frequency 100 mA mobile X-ray is safer, 40% faster, smaller and easier to move around
Bengaluru, 28, November, 2013: GE Healthcare, the US$18 billion healthcare business of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) announced today the launch of Brivo XR115, a next-generation Ultra*-high frequency mobile X-ray system designed and developed in India for the world. The new GE Brivo XR 115 addresses 5 critical problems faced by radiologists and radiographers; image quality from Mobile machines of critical anatomies like the spine, patient discomfort which can occur while shifting from hospital bed to the X ray room, higher radiation uncontrolled patient movement that occurs during pediatric imaging, and the potential safety issues that can exist moving equipment between wards.
X-ray is the primary and most widely used imaging tool in healthcare. India is home to about 100,000 traditional x-ray systems producing an estimated 100 billion x-ray images a year. The majority of these X-ray systems are old generation technology plagued by critical problems. GE's new Brivo XR115 Ultra* High frequency 100 ma Mobile X ray provides a solution with great images of all anatomies, lower radiation dose on account of Ultra* High Frequency Technology, Freedom of Mobility for its light weight design, lower maintenance cost due to safe design and , the added peace of mind for radiographers, radiologists and patients.
We are attempting to address the severe challenges faced by Indian healthcare providers by building a healthier India through technology innovation. Our customers asked us to make "X-ray imaging, the first step in better diagnosis" safer, more affordable and accessible. Here we are, with Brivo XR 115 addressing all their challenges and helping build a healthier India" Terri Bresenham, President and CEO, GE Healthcare, South Asia
Brivo XR 115 is safer for even Newborns: Brivo XR 115's Ultra* high frequency system with 200 KHz makes x-ray imaging safer for all patients and most importantly radiographers who are using the system through the day. 100mA machine is 40% faster than the 60mA machine. It is Ultra*high Frequency and leads to lower radiation dose. With lower radiation and other safety features, it is safe even for newborn babies.
Freedom of Mobile: Mobile x-ray systems are used to image patients in wards like NICUs, and move within hospitals rooms, hallways and narrow corridors. Unlike traditional, bulky x-ray systems, Brivo has a smaller footprint, smaller turning radius and weighs only 120 Kg - 60 kg lesser than traditional systems and comes with <2 Kg push force. These features make it is as easy as pushing an empty super market cart around, making it easier for smaller built nurses. The system design is safe for patients and technologists.
Getting it right, first time is very important for speedy, accurate diagnosis and lowering radiation. Imaging is difficult or and repeated exposures are required when patient moves during the procedure. For example, the uncontrollable movement of infants ; patients who struggle to hold their breath, and trauma patients who may have to be moved from a stretcher while in pain. The Ultra* high frequency Brivo XR 115's technology enhancements ensure these pain points are addressed giving remarkable imagery the first time even in difficult to image anatomies like Lumbar Spine, Pelvis and Skull. The design enables 180 degree movement making it easy to access different anatomies with minimal patient movement. The imaging process is 40% faster.
"The Brivo XR115 will bring complete peace of mind to the radiologist, radiographer and patient alike. Keeping in mind the concerns of radiologists and physicians , our research team and designers have created a safer imaging environment by reducing X-ray exposure time, lowering radiation dose and providing exceptional images," said Shireesh Sahai, Director, DGS & Surgery, GE Healthcare, South Asia. "The company will endeavor to lead the industry with its commitment to technology, innovation and its ability to incorporate important inputs from leading medical professionals around the world," he added.
*Ultra High frequency refers to 200KHz
