FLORENCE, ITALY - August 10, 2006 :- GE Oil & Gas will supply Total E&P Indonesie with two gas turbine-driven turbocompressor trains for the Tunu Field Development Project, Phase 11 South, in the Mahakam Delta of East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
The Tunu 11 project is designed to boost the delivery of natural gas from the Tunu field to the PT Badak LNG plant in East Kalimantan, one of the world's largest LNG facilities.
Each of the GE turbocompressor trains will include a PGT25 gas turbine with an LM2500 dry low emissions (DLE) gas generator, gear box and 2BCL608 centrifugal compressor. The power turbine and compressor will be manufactured at GE Oil & Gas facilities in Florence, Italy while the gas generator will be manufactured in Evendale, Ohio, USA.
Because this will be an offshore application, all main auxiliaries such as the acoustic enclosure, inlet air system and ventilation ducts will be manufactured of stainless steel material. The two trains will be fully assembled on single-lift skids and will undergo full load tests at GE Oil & Gas facilities in Massa, Italy.
The GE equipment is scheduled to be delivered to the project site in January of 2008, with commercial operation expected to begin by the third quarter of that year.
The Tunu 11 project marks the fourth time GE has provided turbocompressor equipment to Total E&P for installation in the region. Lead contractor for the new project is PT PAL of Surabaya, Indonesia.
