GE Supplying Gas Turbine for Cogeneration Plant in Poland

May 06, 2003

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY (May 6, 2003) --- GE Power Systems will supply a PG9171E (Frame 9E) gas turbine to Enprima Engineering Ltd. of Finland, the main contractor for a power plant project in Poland.
The plant, owned by Zielona Gora S.A., a Polish energy company, is located in Zielona Gora, a city in western Poland about 160 kilometers from Berlin, Germany. When it enters commercial service in 2004, the gas-fired, cogeneration facility will produce 190 megawatts of electricity and 90 megawatts for district heating.
This represents GE's first direct sale of a gas turbine in Poland, although GE-technology machines have been supplied previously by GE business associates for projects in the country.
The Frame 9E gas turbine will be manufactured at GE's plant in Belfort, France for shipment to the project site in September of 2003. This will be the first shipment of the upgraded Frame 9E which offers 2.2% additional output. The unit is compliant with ATEX, the new Equipment Explosive Atmosphere regulation for Europe.
In addition to the supply of the gas turbine, the scope of GE's contract also includes engineering, procurement, delivery, erection, commissioning, training, and plant integration services.
The 50-hertz Frame 9E is a workhorse of GE's worldwide fleet of gas turbines, and has logged more than eight million hours in utility and industrial service worldwide.
