FLORENCE, ITALY (March 13, 2003) --- GE Oil & Gas received a contract of US$50 million to supply three gas turbine-driven turbo compressor packages and additional equipment for a new onshore gas compression plant in Brunei.
Owned by Brunei Shell Petroleum and Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas, the new plant will compress gas coming from existing offshore platforms, and will have a total capacity of 24 million standard cubic meters per day.
GE Oil & Gas, through a consortium of contractors, supplied three turbo compressor packages composed of three, 22-megawatt Frame 5B gas turbines and three BCL807 centrifugal compressors. Other equipment provided by GE included accessories and auxiliary systems, Mark V control panels, three heat recovery steam generator boilers and three air coolers for cooling process gas. GE Oil & Gas also will provide two years of operation and maintenance support.
The consortium leader for the construction of the new gas compression plant, OGP Technical Service of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was responsible for the plant design and balance-of-plant materials procurement. OGP is part of Petroliam Nasional Bhd. (PETRONAS), Malaysia's national petroleum corporation. The PETRONAS Group operates in 25 countries and is ranked among the Fortune Global 500 companies.
