GE Steam Power signs first nuclear multi-year service agreement in Ukraine with AtomRemontServis

Baden, SWITZERLAND — July 23, 2020 — GE Steam Power (NYSE: GE) announced today it has been selected by AtomRemontServis for its first Multi-Year Agreement (MYA) in Ukraine on the Khmelnitskiy and Rivne nuclear power plants. Under the agreement, GE Steam Power will provide maintenance services on the power plants’ four generators over the next three years to help ensure reliable operations of the two sites.


The Khmelnitskiy and Rivne nuclear power plants play a critical role in the Ukrainian power supply, generating a combined 5.5 gigawatts (GW) of reliable, CO2-free power – enough for approximately 6 million Ukrainian residents. As the country approaches its commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent below 1990 levels and its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution has set a target to cap greenhouse gas emissions at 60 percent of 1990 levels by 2030, the continued operation of these nuclear plants will help support Ukraine’s energy objectives.

AtomRemontServis is a subsidiary of NNEGC Energoatom, the owner and operator of all nuclear plants in Ukraine which account for nearly half of the country’s energy supply. This new service agreement with AtomRemontServis marks GE Steam Power’s first MYA in Ukraine.
