GE to Spotlight Cleaner and More Efficient Energy Solutions at WETEX 2012 in Dubai

DUBAI, UAE; March 12, 2012: To support the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Middle East region meet its growing energy demand in a sustainable and efficient manner, GE (NYSE: GE) is highlighting its innovative portfolio of energy and water technology and service solutions for government and private sector customers at the 2012 Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) conference, held at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center from March 13-15.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and hosted by the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA), the theme at this year's WETEX is 'Element to Elemental.'

"The dynamic growth of the Middle East region requires innovative solutions with a focus on energy and water use efficiency," said Joe Anis, president and CEO, GE Energy in the Middle East. "We take pride in the advanced technology solutions that we continue to deliver to our public and private customers in the region, which are designed to enable them to meet the growing demand for energy, while meeting their business goals."

GE's Keramat Fakhari is among GE's representatives scheduled to share GE's new technological advancements. Fakhari will be highlighting GE's advanced power generation solutions at the conference: 'Recent Advancement in Gas Turbine Fuel Flexibility.' In addition, GE's Wajdi Ahmed, will share his insights on Smart Grid Technology on the panel for Energy & Environment, moderated by DEWA.

Under the banner 'Powering a Sustainable Future Together,' GE's booth #S.SP8 also supports this year's WETEX theme with GE technical experts on hand to showcase its technology including:

  • Innovative and fuel flexible energy technologies that offer enhanced operational flexibility and efficiency including GE Energy's FlexEfficiency technology and the Integrated Solar Combined Cycle (ISCC) application which integrates renewables with natural gas to produce cleaner, more affordable and reliable power.
  • GE's ecomagination-certified Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC), which is capable of converting coal into a high-value cleaner burning fuel, and Jenbacher biogas engines.
  • Other energy technology solutions include the ecomagination-certified ZeeWeed module for water reuse.
  • GE's recently launched innovative filter house technology, which is specifically designed to eliminate gas turbine shut downs for offline axial compressor water washes. This technology is among the innovative solutions GE offers to the oil and gas sector, such as its ecomagination-certified carbon capture sequence.
  • In the renewable energy arena, GE is showcasing leading-edge solar power technology including thin film solar panels with the highest independently measured and reported efficiency in the industry.
  • GE's advanced dry low NOx (DLN) technology, which enables the lowering of gas turbine emissions during operations. GE's DLN technology is currently supporting aluminum industry customers, such as Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL), lower NOx emissions by 15 percent.
  • Crucial localization initiatives with some of the Middle East's leading energy and engineering services companies to complement GE's extensive local and international engineering and service facilities.
