Turbomachinery Symposium 2008
Booth # 1115
HOUSTON, TEXAS---September 9, 2008---GE Energy today announced the introduction of its newest System 1 software, version 6.5. As GE's patented condition monitoring and diagnostic software platform, System 1 assists in managing the health and viability of plant machinery and equipment assets. Machine operators around the globe rely on System 1 software to quickly and easily access critical information to help predict potential problems in all types of industrial plants.
This release introduces several new features, including ones which address the specific needs of oil and gas customers with reciprocating compressors, and provides the same dedication to understanding these compressors' unique condition and health. The ability to have both rotating and reciprocating machinery on the same platform sets System 1 software apart from competitors.
As more machinery owners seek to collaborate with additional operators and other plant maintenance personnel concerning the maintenance and life cycle decisions for their equipment, the need arises for more customized information for the various personnel constituents. To accomplish this, the System 1 platform now offers the ability to create multiple operator profiles---allowing different types of operators to see what is important to them while preserving plot sessions already chosen by another operator.
Another powerful feature that the System 1 platform provides is the incorporation of data capture from GE's Bently Nevada™ initial wireless condition monitoring solution. Designed for non-critical machinery that requires frequent, periodic monitoring, the input module enables temperature and vibration measurements on assets that are inaccessible, due to remote locations or difficult environments, delivering reliable, consistent and accurate measurements. The wSIM module can operate using either a long-lasting battery or an innovative new self-powered "energy harvester," which generates power from the vibratory motion of the machine itself.
"Our customers recognize the asset health management benefits of reduced cycle time to detect, diagnose and to act on those decisions. The legacy strength of the System 1 platform is vibration condition monitoring, an area where the Bently Nevada product line excels," said Brian Palmer, vice president of GE Energy's optimization and control business. "More and more customers are deploying the System 1 platform as the global standard for their plants. Our customers value the predictability derived from System 1 software and our Bently Nevada product solutions as providing distinct operating advantages."
For more than 50 years, the Bently Nevada name has been synonymous with machinery protection and condition monitoring. One of the five product lines that comprise GE Energy's optimization and control portfolio, advanced Bently Nevada condition monitoring solutions help optimize plant reliability, uptime and efficiency.
