GE Silicones Announces New Industrial, Mildew-Resistant Sealant; Application Versatility for Product Manufacturing and Maintenance

June 06, 2002

WATERFORD, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2002--GE Silicones today announced the introduction of a new mildew-resistant line of silicone products, the IS700 Series Sanitary Sealants.
IS700 sealants are weather-resistant sealing and bonding products for use in the manufacturing and maintenance of pools, spas, recreational vehicles and many other applications. IS700 sealants are one-part silicone rubber, can resist the effects of mildew when exposed to moist and humid environments, and offer excellent adhesion to glass, many metals and plastics.
"The application versatility of IS700 Sanitary Sealant is one of its chief benefits to users," notes Robert Hennessy, GE Silicones Marketing Manager for RTV Products. "In both interior and exterior applications where moisture is present, our IS700 Series Sanitary Sealants offer a durable sealing solution with mildew-resistance, elasticity and weatherability."
IS700 Series Sanitary Sealants can be used for weather and interior sealing in markets ranging from Recreational Vehicles (RVs), Pools and Spas to Marine, Appliances and Commercial Aviation. In RVs, IS700 from GE Silicones can seal in and around bathroom fixtures, in storage areas, vents, cables, plumbing lines, and on through-wall, flooring and wheel well applications. With no mixing or measuring required, IS700 sealants are easily dispensed from caulking cartridges to provide an effective seal in joints and gaps between substrates in today's motor homes.
Examples of applications in Pools and Spas include joint sealing around storage and hatch compartments, between joints on exterior substrates, and plumbing and electrical outlets. Used as a joint and gap sealant, IS700 Sanitary Sealants can protect these and other areas where the intrusion of moisture and mildew can affect the performance of Pools and Spas.
In marine recreational and in commercial aircraft, IS700 Sanitary Sealants can be used for weather and interior sealing and gasketing in applications such as storage and hatch compartments and head facilities.
IS700 Sanitary Sealants dispense easily in a wide range of weather and climate conditions. Easily placed into a joint, the sealant 'skins over' quickly and then cures to silicone rubber on contact with moisture in the air. IS700 sealants are recommended for applications in which there is no abrasion or physical abuse to the sealant material, and for use only in locations above the waterline. IS700 sealant is not recommended for use in locations subject to continuous water immersion.
IS700 Sanitary Sealant joins a complete line of products from GE Silicones for Industrial Manufacturing and Maintenance. For more information please visit GE Silicones online at www.gesilicones.com, or in the U.S. call 1-800-255-8886.
