GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies showcases latest solutions at Middle East NDT Exhibition

November 09, 2009

* Focus on Corrosion Measurement and Monitoring and Weld Inspection

Bahrain, Manama; November 9, 2009: GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies is showcasing the latest additions to its wide range of inspection solutions at the 5th Middle East NDT Conference and Exhibition, being held until November 11, 2009, at Gulf Hotel, Manama in Bahrain. A particular focus of the stand, number E05 -- E08, is the company's expertise in corrosion measurement and monitoring and in weld inspection. In addition to the new products, there is also a wide selection of instruments and systems from the company's extensive portfolio including ultrasonic, eddy current, visual inspection and radiography inspection solutions.

On show for the first time is the new Rightrax HT system, which brings remote corrosion monitoring to high temperature applications. This new system offers accurate and reliable wall thickness data of pipes and vessels operating at extremely high temperatures to provide significant cost savings and help ensure plant safety & integrity.

Another recent addition to the Rightrax family is the versatile Rightrax DL2 Wall Thickness Data Logger, which can be connected to Rightrax M2 sensors, to provide simple data collection or can be deployed as a standard flaw detector for conventional thickness measurement or weld inspection.  Rightrax DL2 is used in multiple industries, where there is a need for thickness measurement, corrosion monitoring and weld inspection.

Brian Hempenstall, Sales Manager MEA for GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies, said: "The Middle East is one of the key markets for the company, and the Middle East NDT exhibition serves as a key platform to showcase our extensive range of products that are relevant for the region. Accuracy and reliability of information are extremely important today to drive operational efficiencies, and our products are tailored to support the industries in maximizing productivity and efficiency."

Improved corrosion measurement is also offered by the new Phasor Cv/DM, which is the first phased array inspection device for corrosion spot identification in the marketplace. Part of GE's field-proven phased array family, the Phasor CV/DM provides extensive inspection coverage with every scan, and even the smallest corrosion pit can be identified, measured and evaluated.  Concurrently, inspection times are significantly reduced.

The new USM Go is the lightest and most portable ultrasonic flaw detector available from GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies.  Weighing less than 1 kg, it is the first instrument of its kind with pressure-responsive, joystick control and offers data display resolution on a screen with the largest pixel count of any instrument in its category.

Also on show are the company's latest thickness gauge, examples of the company's remote visual inspection instrumentation, computed radiography scanners, the field-proven Weldstar automated girth weld inspection system and the Rhythm software platform, which allows data capture, reporting, analysis and storage of inspection images generated by ultrasonics, RVI and radiography.
