GE Selected to Supply Wind Turbines for Project in California

DALLAS--Sept. 8, 2003--GE Wind Energy, a business unit of GE Power Systems, will supply two 1.5-megawatt wind turbines to Coram Energy, LLC for a wind farm in Tehachapi, California. Sited approximately 150 miles from Los Angeles, the Coram Energy Project will have a capacity of three megawatts of power. It is expected to generate 9,198,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, which is enough clean, renewable energy to supply the annual needs of about 1,000 average American households. The power generated will be sold to Southern California Edison, one of the world's largest purchasers of wind-generated electricity. Construction will begin during October, 2003 with completion expected in December, 2003. GE's 1.5-megawatt wind turbines are among the most widely sold wind turbines in the megawatt class. In mid-2002, GE announced that its 1,000th 1.5-megawatt turbine had been placed in operation. Today, over 1,500 of these machines are operating in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Sweden, Japan and the United States. GE Wind Energy designs and manufactures wind turbines with rated outputs that range from 900 to 3,600 kilowatts, and offers support services ranging from project development assistance to operation and maintenance. Worldwide, the company has developed and/or sold over 6,000 wind turbines with a rated capacity exceeding 3,800 megawatts. About GE Power Systems GE Power Systems (www.gepower.com) is one of the world's leading suppliers of power generation technology, energy services and management systems with 2002 revenues of nearly $23 billion.
