GE Security Adds to Growing Video Portfolio with Release of Next-Generation Fixed Dome Surveillance Cameras

March 13, 2007

Best-in-Class DR2 and DM2 Dome Cameras Offer Multiple Advanced Features Previously Not Available in a Single Camera

BRADENTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GE Security, Inc., a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of the General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE), today announced the availability of the DR2 and DM2, two analog, fixed-dome cameras that offer multiple features previously not available in single cameras. The DR2 and DM2 are the latest additions to GE Security's line of wide dynamic range cameras, joining the CamPlus 2 and UltraView XP3, introduced recently.

This growing line of cameras offers system operators opportunities to install a single GE Security camera where, in the past, multiple cameras may have been required to meet surveillance requirements. This reduces hardware and installation costs while simplifying monitoring.

"With the introduction of these new products, GE Security reaffirms its commitment to developing advanced, innovative video surveillance technology," said A. Louis Parker, president and CEO, GE Security. "These video cameras are helping to drive GE Security's vision of seamless, scalable, integrated security solutions built on a solid foundation of best of breed products and services across the security industry."

"Security professionals seeking cameras that offer the sum of all existing features need look no further than these innovative, one-stop solutions to their real-world challenges," said Robert Siegel, general manager, video and software solutions, GE Security. "With these new cameras, customers will receive the added value of single camera solutions for challenging applications while enjoying the quality they've come to expect from GE Security."

GE Security's new DR2 and DM2 cameras offer features that are new to the company's video product line. These unobtrusive fixed dome cameras incorporate the technology needed by operators of advanced video systems while offering an optimal solution for customers who require discreet applications, as they are styled to blend easily into any environment and complement a variety of settings and surveillance atmospheres.

The DR2 "rugged" series of dome cameras can withstand harsher conditions as they are impact-resistant, weatherproof and can endure temperatures ranging from -35 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. The DM2 fixed domes are encased in plastic and are available in every lens configuration allowing installers to choose the most appropriate solution for their needs. The plastic DM2 line has now also been upgraded with the same polycarbonate bubble used in the DR2, making it vandal resistant.

Other key features of the DR2 and DM2 dome cameras include:

  • True three-axis gimble, full digital graphical user interface control
  • Support for all common camera platforms
  • Captive shroud and polycarbonate dome on both
  • Compatible for use with existing DR mounts
  • High resolution 500+ TVL sensors, indoor, day/night and wide-dynamic range configurations

In addition to the DR2 and DM2 cameras introduced today, GE Security recently introduced the CamPlus 2 and UltraView XP3 camera lines.

The CamPlus 2 further enhances GE Security's growing video surveillance offering by incorporating the latest ultra-high-resolution sensor technology. With this, users can see images with unprecedented clarity and crispness. As with other new GE Security cameras, CamPlus 2 is designed so customers can experience advanced features previously not found in a single product. For example, it offers wide-dynamic range functionality by combining two images for a single frame of optimized video.

All CamPlus 2 cameras offer:

  • Easy-to-use five-button menu for setup and configuration
  • Improved white balance control
  • Advanced day/night and resolution controls for optimized performance
  • Secondary BNC-out for local or test monitor use
  • Universal power input, 12 volts DC/24 volts AC

Also recently introduced, the next-generation UltraView XP3, the most advanced wide dynamic range camera on the market, now offers improved functionality for its commercial customer base. The UltraView XP3 is well suited to business locations exposed to extreme backlight, such as retail stores, loading docks and building lobbies. The UltraView XP3 uses state-of-the-art exposure processing technology for automatic, real-time adjustments to ambient environmental conditions.

Key features of the UltraView XP3 include:

  • Dramatically improved low-light performance (1.0 lux @ f-stop 1.2 (30 IRE))
  • Improved color balance controls
  • Self-tuning digital signal processing that adjusts the camera in real time based on actual changing environmental conditions
  • Easy-to-navigate customization menus

The DR2 and DM2 cameras have launched and will be on display and ready for orders at ISC West, March 28-30, 2007. The next generation lines of traditional fixed cameras, the CamPlus 2 and UltraView XP3, have already started shipping to customers.
