GE Power Systems Wins Emission Monitoring Service Contract at Four Exelon Power Facilities

July 31, 2003

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (July 31, 2003) --- GE Power Systems announced today that it has signed two long-term service contracts with Exelon Corporation for 25 Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) at four power plants in Massachusetts and Texas.
Under the terms of the contract, GE Power Systems' KVB-Enertec team will provide comprehensive maintenance of all CEMS and Data Acquisition and Handling Systems (DAHS) hardware as well as provide 24-hour-a-day software support for the Exelon facilities.
"These service agreements demonstrate the real value in creating customized partnerships and leveraging shared operational insight. We are pleased that Exelon has decided to add these new contracts into our existing partnership," said Sarah Acker, general manager for GE's KVB-Enertec. "Our tailored service programs are designed to enable Exelon's CEM systems to exceed standard performance in areas such as extended life span, minimal downtime and top-tier operating efficiencies, providing added value and measurable results."
"The KVB-Enertec group has been a valued member of the Exelon team since 1999. The ability to structure a customized maintenance program provides the right combination of functional expertise and financial commitment we need to ensure we're meeting or exceeding regulatory requirements in the most efficient manner possible," states Steve Toth, manager of predictive/preventive maintenance at Exelon.
The power facilities included in the contracts are Mystic Generating Station of Everett, Mass.; Fore River Generating Station of Weymouth, Mass.; Steam Electric Station of Forth Worth, Texas; and Mountain Creek Steam Electric Station of Dallas, Texas. The agreements went into effect earlier this year and are the second and third service contracts that Exelon has signed with GE. The first contract was for five facilities covering 12 separate CEM systems near Philadelphia, Pa.
Exelon Corporation is one of the nation's largest electric utilities with approximately 5 million customers and more than $15 billion in annual revenues. The company has one of the industry's largest portfolios of electricity generation capacity, with a nationwide reach and strong positions in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. Exelon is headquartered in Chicago and trades on the NYSE under the ticker EXC.
As part of GE Power Systems, KVB-Enertec has the largest installed base of CEM systems in the United States, serving the power, chemical, pulp and paper, waste incineration and multiple other industries worldwide. The business provides a wide range of CEMS and DAHS support services including full-service CEMS and DAHS management. Their latest innovation---NetDAHS---is scheduled for commercial release later this summer and features a Web-based architecture that will redefine the DAHS marketplace.
