GE Power Systems Secures Contract for Integrated Substation Control Systems for Algerian Company

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (December 9, 2003) --- GE Power Systems announced that its Network Reliability Services business has secured a contract for an Integrated Substation Control System (ISCS) to be installed at a 220 kV/60kV substation operated by Sonelgaz in Algeria, North Africa. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The ISCS architecture includes a digital substation controller, a high-speed Local Area Network (LAN), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and several peripheral devices. In addition to providing advanced protection and control features, the solution will enable Sonelgaz personnel to manage substation information via the Internet. For this substation, the graphic user interface will be in delivered in French.
"GE Power Systems' ISCS is a great tool to manage substation monitoring, protection and control cost effectively," stated Jim Robertson, general manager for the Network Reliability Services business within GE Power Systems. "By working together with our partner we will provide a comprehensive solution to meet Sonelgaz's overall project objectives."
The ISCS was contracted through EKOSinerji in Turkey. EKOSinerji and GE will provide a turnkey solution including design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing and site commissioning support. The two companies will work together to integrate the system for Sonelgaz.
