PARIS, FRANCE (September 8, 2003) --- Ricardo Cordoba has been appointed sales region executive --- Europe for GE Power Systems. The appointment was announced today by Del Williamson, president of global sales for GE Power Systems.
Cordoba is responsible for the entire GE Power Systems sales portfolio in Europe, including products and services covering the total spectrum of the energy industry. He is based at GE Power Systems' European sales headquarters in Paris, France. Through acquisitions and other expansions of its business operations, GE Power Systems' presence in Europe has grown significantly in recent years.
"There are significant growth opportunities in Europe, particularly in combined cycle power production in Spain and Italy. Additionally, there has been strong interest in wind power across Europe, especially in Germany, Spain and Denmark, and there is significant activity in the small hydro industry, chiefly for plant refurbishments," said Cordoba. "We will continue to harness this market potential to provide our customers with the very best products and services."
Before being appointed to his new role, Cordoba served as general manager for GE Power Systems Energy Products covering Europe and Central Asia. He joined GE in June 1999 with the Alstom Gas Turbine acquisition, having begun his career with Alstom in 1982.
Cordoba has an engineering degree from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble in France and he graduated from Grenoble University with a degree in electrochemistry.
