ATLANTA, GEORGIA (May 22, 2003) --- GE Power Systems has announced that it has developed an online technical support site for its Substation Automation customers to provide them with detailed knowledge about the products and services the company offers in that market. The site contains product intelligence such as users manuals, troubleshooting techniques, field bulletins, product recall information, modification history and frequently asked questions, as well as additional product and service information. The site is password protected and customers will be required to register for access. The site is located at www.gepower.com/substationautomation.
"We developed this resource in direct response to our customers' request for this tool," stated Jim Robertson, GM for the Automation & Network Services business, based in Atlanta, GA. "In the past, the Substation Automation customer service organization has been a reactive department. This technology allows us to be proactive and push relevant product and service information to our customers in a secure environment where they can access it at their convenience. It also means customers will receive this information in a timely manner and have a forum to provide feedback to us immediately. We think this will be a great asset to the business."
The Substation Automation technical support site automates many information sharing processes customers require in learning more about the products they use. Instead of investing time and money researching how to solve a problem or learning about an upgrade, site users will be able to check for available upgrades, solutions, product updates and available software patches at a time that is convenient for them. "We realize this is a dynamic tool and we look forward to developing it over time to best meet the needs of our end users," stated Robertson.
GE's comprehensive transmission and distribution automation assemblage includes expert services to cost-effectively manage and execute substation automation projects, from design engineering to installation and commissioning. The collection of services is complemented by an assortment of products and solutions such as controllers and intelligent electronic devices (IEDs), portable test equipment, and transformer management systems which enable utility personnel to further improve asset performance and network reliability.
