GE Opens Health & Wellness Center At Lawrence Park Headquarters

June 13, 2006

State-of-the-art Fitness Center to Provide Employees and Spouses with Space to Get/Stay Fit

LAWRENCE PARK, Pa. (June 13, 2006) -- General Electric today announced the completion of a new, 8,000 square foot Health & Wellness Center for use by GE employees, spouses and retirees. The new center, located at the heart of GE Transportation's plant, is in a 94-year-old building that was renovated into a state-of-the-art facility over the past 6 months.

"The Health and Wellness Center will allow our employees and their spouses to live a healthier lifestyle," according to John Dineen, President and CEO of GE -- Transportation. "At a time when healthcare costs are of increasing concern to corporations, small employers and individuals, GE continues to look for ways to invest in the health and well-being of our most valuable asset, our people. By opening this facility, we are making it easier for employees to get fit, stay fit and to ultimately reduce the amount of money spent on healthcare."

The center, which officially opens on June 19th, will feature over 70 pieces of cardio conditioning and strength equipment. In addition, there will be a variety of wellness programming and over 20 fitness classes offered each week. Membership for employees, spouses and retirees will be just $15 per person and $25 for a husband/wife membership.

Health Fitness Corporation, with a staff of physical fitness professionals, will manage the new center. GE's onsite medical staff will work with fitness center members and Health Fitness Corporation to develop safe exercise regimens for employees who want to start on their path to physical fitness.
