GE Oil & Gas to Supply Equipment for New Gas Processing Plant in Indonesia

October 29, 2002

GE Oil & Gas to Supply Equipment for New Gas Processing Plant in Indonesia ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2002--GE Oil & Gas has received a contract of US$29 million to supply two gas turbine-powered compressor trains for the Peciko 4 gas processing plant in Balikpapan, Indonesia.

The plant will be owned and operated by TotalFinaElf E&P Indonesia of Jakarta, one of the world's leading oil companies. The scope of GE's contract includes two PG25+ gas turbines, each with a rated output of 29 megawatts; and two centrifugal compressors. The two compressor trains will undergo testing at GE's facility in Florence, Italy before they are shipped to the project site.

GE also will supply inlet and exhaust systems on a single-lift arrangement for easy on-site installation, control and protection panels, installation and commissioning supervision, and spare parts. PT. Pal of Indonesia, GE's consortium partner for the project, will handle logistics and part of the scope of supply to be sourced locally. The GE equipment will be shipped to the site in January of 2004 with the plant expected to begin service in June of 2004.

GE Oil & Gas previously has supplied equipment for two other gas processing plants (Tunu 7 and Tunu 8) in the vicinity of the Peciko site, and has supported numerous TotalFinaElf projects around the world. Peciko 4 is just the latest milestone in our on-going relationship with TotalFinaElf, said Claudi Santiago, president and chief executive officer of GE Oil & Gas. We are pleased that this world-class company continues to select our high technology equipment and services for their projects. With operations in more than 100 countries, TotalFinaElf's activities include oil and gas exploration and production, refining and marketing of refined products, and international trading in both crude and refined products.

TotalFinaElf also is a major player in the chemicals market, through its branch, Atofina. GE Oil & Gas, a business unit of GE Power Systems, is headquartered in Florence, Italy, the home of Nuovo Pignone, a long-time global leader in gas compression and turbogeneration products. GE acquired ownership of Nuovo Pignone in 1994 and since then, has continued to expand its oil and gas business by acquiring or developing partnerships with other technology and experience leaders in the industry.

Other companies in the GE Oil & Gas family include Gemini, GE Packaged Power Odessa, Rotoflow, AC Compressor and Conmec, all based in the U.S.; Thermodyn of France; and PII Pipeline Solutions of the U.K.
