FLORENCE, ITALY (June 12, 2003) --- Tecnimont of Milan, Italy has awarded GE Oil & Gas a contract to supply two reciprocating compressors, parts and services for the Nanhai low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant in Guangdong Province, China. The plant is owned by CSPC, a joint venture between CNOOC Petrochemicals Investment Ltd. and Shell Nanhai BV.
The scope of GE's contract includes a 6HF/2-3 booster/primary compressor with a power rating of 4,804 kW, a 14PK/2 hypercompressor with a power rating of 20,950 kW, design and engineering, construction and supervisory erection services, as well as spare parts.
The equipment will be manufactured at GE Oil & Gas facilities in Italy and will be shipped to the project site in April of 2004 for installation by the third quarter of 2004. The plant is scheduled to begin commercial operation by the end of 2005, and will produce 300,000 tons of LDPE per year.
