GE Oil & Gas to Supply Compression Units, Services for Three Pipeline Stations in Italy

FLORENCE, Italy--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 2003--

GE Oil & Gas has signed a contract with Snam Rete Gas to supply three new compression units and services for three compression stations (Gallese, Tarsia and Melizzano) that are part of the Snam Rete Gas nationwide gas pipeline network in Italy. Under the contract, valued at US$43 million, the first unit is scheduled to be shipped in the first quarter of 2004, with commercial operation set to begin during the third quarter of that year. The equipment will be manufactured at the GE Oil & Gas facility in Florence, Italy. Each of the three compression units will include a GE PGT-25 gas turbine with an ISO-rated power output of 23 megawatts, and a PCL602 centrifugal compressor. The units will be supplied with apredictive emissions monitoring system for continuous NOx and CO monitoring, and also will be connected with a remote monitoring and diagnostics system. In addition to supplying the equipment, the scope of the GE contract also includes erection, commissioning and startup activities, spare parts and training. Under a separate, ten-year contractual service agreement, GE will offer operation and maintenance services for the three compression units.

Snam Rete Gas (www.snamretegas.it) operates in gas transmission and re-gasification through its nationwide pipeline network of about 30,000 kilometers.
