- GE to roll out series of industry panels and discussions in Qatar during the Congress
Doha, Qatar; December 4, 2011: GE Oil & Gas, a world leader in advanced technology equipment and services for all segments of the oil and gas industry, will showcase its new Filter House technology and highlight its thought leadership in delivering innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency of the oil & gas sector at the 20th World Petroleum Congress to be held from December 4 to 8 at the Qatar National Convention Center.
GE Oil & Gas CEO D. Heintzelman will address a plenary session at the Congress on 'Technology, Cooperation and Innovation: Making Energy Available to All.' The company will also showcase its advanced technologies at the World Petroleum Exhibition being held as part of the Congress with a 200 sq m pavilion. To build on its participation at the event, GE Oil & Gas is hosting a series of panel discussions in Qatar to highlight the varied aspects and future trends in the industry.

The key activities of GE Oil & Gas during the World Petroleum Congress week in Qatar include, a state-of-the-art seminar on Dec. 5, organised by PII Pipeline Solutions, a joint venture of GE Oil & Gas and Al Shaheen Energy Services, the fully-owned subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum.
To be held at the GE Advanced Technology and Research Center in Qatar Science and Technology Park in Doha, the seminar will discuss PII offerings and solutions and share best practices for pipeline integrity management.
GE has a strong history of partnerships and investments in Qatar, including the opening of the 13,400 sq m GE Advanced Technology Research Center (QATRC) this year, focused on applied research and knowledge transfer in key areas that drive Qatar's social and economic growth. The facility is being steered by the global thought-leadership of GE's four business divisions - GE Global Research, GE Oil & Gas, GE Aviation and GE Healthcare.
GE has entered into a multimillion, multi-year partnership with RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) for LNG and Sales Gas production complex in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. The project supports Qatar's strategy to become the world's leading supplier of LNG. The Qatar Service Center of GE Oil & Gas in Ras Laffan is a center of excellence that serves as a technology hub for the region, and also expands GE's local service capabilities, strengthens local technical support and reduces turn-around times for projects throughout the region.
GE Oil & Gas technology supports Qatargas 2, the world's largest LNG project and the first deployment of GE Frame 9E gas turbines for LNG service. With 7.8 million tons per year capacity, the Frame 9 super-trains are the largest LNG refrigeration strings in the world, and support Qatar in providing a new source of energy diversity and supply for LNG markets worldwide.
Also, in the first large-scale application of its type, GE Oil & Gas advanced compressor technology is minimizing LNG boil-off gas flaring at LNG berths at the Ras Laffan Port in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar.
Last year, ConocoPhillips & GE Water opened the Global Water Sustainability Center to research and develop innovative water solutions for petroleum & petrochemical sectors, as well as municipal and agricultural use. GE has nearly 250 employees and three offices in the country.
