GE Oil & Gas to Revamp Compression Train at Trinidad and Tobago LNG Plant

March 26, 2003

FLORENCE, ITALY (March 26, 2003) --- GE Oil & Gas has received a contract of nearly US$28 million to revamp and upgrade liquefied natural gas (LNG) process train #1 at the Atlantic LNG Company's production facility in Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago.
Train #1 is composed of six turbo compressors driven by Frame 5/2C gas turbines. GE Oil & Gas will upgrade the gas turbines to Frame 5/2 D technology which will increase the output of each unit by 13%, to 43,700 HP.
GE also will provide internal components to upgrade the train's centrifugal compressors. The equipment for the project will be supplied from GE Oil & Gas' facility in Florence, Italy.
The upgrade activity will be conducted during two shutdowns: September 2003 for the first three turbo compressors, and April 2004 for the remaining three units. Train #1 already is under a contractual service agreement (CSA) provided by GE Oil & Gas.
GE Oil & Gas previously has supplied equipment and services for three additional compressor trains at the Port Fortin site.
Atlantic LNG Company of Trinidad and Tobago was formed in 1995 to develop an LNG plant in the Caribbean. The venture was created by the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago along with four international companies: BP, BG, Repsol and Cabot. The first LNG train went into operation at the Point Fortin plant in 1999.
Additional production of LNG is part of the government's master plan to maximize the use of abundant gas resources for the economic development of Trinidad and Tobago. "We are pleased to play a continuing role in this effort by Atlantic LNG to support national economic growth," said Claudi Santiago, President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Oil & Gas.
