GE Oil & Gas highlights eco-certified products and latest technologies at Gastech 2009

May 27, 2009

*Premier exhibition is the largest meeting point for LNG, LPG and natural gas industries

Abu Dhabi, UAE; May 27, 2009: GE Oil & Gas, a world leader in oil and gas advanced technology equipment and services, is showcasing its extensive range of eco-certified products and latest technologies at Gastech 2009, the largest international conference and exhibition for the LNG, LPG and natural gas industries being held from May 25 to 28 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Mohammed Ayoub, Operations Leader -- Regional General Manager, GE Oil & Gas, said: "The oil and gas sector continues to be a prime driver for the Gulf regional economies, and GE has been focused on enhancing the operational efficiency of our partners in the industry. As the region's leading oil and gas industry exhibition, Gastech 2009 offers us the ideal platform to highlight our latest technology developments."

Joe Mastrangelo, Vice President - Turbomachinery for GE Oil & Gas, added: "In recent years, private and public sector participants in the oil and gas sector have become increasingly focused on the long-term sustainability of their operations. This is as a result of having to meet the challenge of depleting oil and gas reserves and that of climate change by adopting environmentally-friendly energy solutions. Our participation at Gastech 2009 addresses both of these aspects."

Gastech 2009 is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, and will host business leaders from across the oil and gas supply chain. At its pavilion, T40, GE Oil & Gas will showcase several of its eco-certified products including: the BCL centrifugal compressor for sour gas reinjection; the ORegen waste heat recovery system for industrial plants; and integrated compressor line (ICL) technology, which saves energy and avoids associated CO2 emissions. The latest developments in steam turbine technology for concentrated solar power applications and the Power Crystal Kit for gas turbine upgrades will also be on display and GE team-members will be present to interact with visitors. At the conference held as part of the event, Giacomo Seghi, Engineering Technology Program Leader for GE Oil & Gas, will present a paper on 'Reducing carbon dioxide footprint by enhancing overall cycle efficiency.'

GE Oil & Gas focuses on the research and development of new technology for the efficient and environmentally friendly use of the region's oil and natural gas reserves. Special attention is placed on the application of advanced turbomachinery within Gas-to-Liquid, Natural Gas Liquefaction and Gas Re-injection applications. As part of its 'Innovation Now' customer focus and commitment, GE Oil & Gas leverages technological innovation from other GE businesses, such as aviation and healthcare, to continuously improve oil and gas industry performance and productivity.

These activities are supported by ongoing customer training initiatives throughout the Middle East. Most recently, GE conducted its highly acclaimed Oil & Gas University programme in Abu Dhabi and Doha, Qatar. The course was tailored to provide participants with managerial and technical information that will further consolidate their expertise in the oil and gas sector.

The Qatar Service Center of GE Oil & Gas in the Ras Laffan Support Services Zone represents a significant step for GE's infrastructure localization strategy in the region, and is regarded as the Center of Excellence for GE Oil & Gas in the Middle East.
