Registration Now Underway for GE's 60th Annual Power Systems Engineering Courses
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.---July 17, 2008---On August 4, GE Energy will begin its 60th annual Power Systems Engineering Courses (PSEC) for top international energy executives. The courses are a highly regarded series of classes created to provide valuable insights about industry trends, best practices and the latest technologies.
The PSEC sessions will be offered between August and the end of December 2008, at GE's Energy Learning Center in Schenectady, N.Y., headquarters of GE's power generation and Global Research Center.
PSEC is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge considered essential for executives to become successful leaders in the electric power industry. The curriculum includes tours of GE's research centers, manufacturing facilities and other industry businesses.
Course registration is flexible based on the executives' individual needs, with participants having the option of taking individual classes, signing up for specialized four-week quarters, or enrolling in the entire four-and-a-half-month program.
Courses being offered within the 2008 sessions include: "Power Systems Planning and Application," "Global Power Markets," "Energy Resource Planning" and "Emerging Generation Technologies." Additional courses will cover topics such as wind and nuclear power fundamentals as well as modern grid substation and distribution automation.
PSEC instructors are considered to be the best practical engineers in the world and many are highly recognized Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) fellows, including the former president of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES).
IEEE members receive a 10 percent discount for the PSEC courses, while discounts also will be offered to groups of four or more individuals registering for the same courses. Students can receive continuing education credits for professional licenses through the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

In all, more than 1,700 U.S.-based and international participants, representing 180 companies and 56 countries, have graduated from PSEC. Upon completing the program, these executives have gone on to advance their careers, with a number of them reaching the chief executive officer level.
